Storytime…
For those who don’t know already my name is Ronnie (row-knee), I’m the face behind Grrlblk and general human person! I am non-binary and my pronouns are: they, he, or my name. I’ve been living in Philly for a few years but am a New Englander at heart. I always crave dunkin donuts when it snows, and you will definitely catch me with an iced beverage in my hand year round. I grew up in a small town around a lot of nature, down the road from where I lived was a horse farm if that puts it in perspective. I’m really grateful to have grown up in a slow town with not much going on because it really shaped important parts of who I am. Most of my days as a teen/young adult were spent laying in the grass at the park, or watching the water ripple from the pier. And many many maaaaaany late night swims. I was and definitely still am a day dreamer because of it.
As a kid I loved to play in the woods with da boyz, I loved adventure and I LOVED dirt. When I learned about minerals I spent a good amount of time cultivating a rock collection, I even had a case for them. I would come home stinky and filthy lmao. I also used to collect bugs as pets? And make little homes from them out of shoe boxes? 😅 When I wasn’t playing outdoors I was very content playing indoors too, making forts and playing in them all day, talking to my toys for hours, regular stuff lol.
As early as I can remember I was always a hands on kid, I loved crafting and anything I could create with my hands. To the point that folks would always gift me various arts and craft kits and paint sets…every…year…Eventually I was like “y’all…I do like other things ya kno?” lmaooo. But looking back on it now I think it’s really sweet and I’m thankful art was such a supported constant in my life. It never really left me either, artsy baby Ronnie is still here with me thriving. Art and creating have really guided my life path and continue to, and I’m really looking forward to what’s to come. 💛
